Guido Henkel has worked on titles from Fallout 2 to Neverwinter Nights, from the Realms of Arkana Trilogy to the more recent Planetscape: Torment. If there's one genre he knows, it's RPGs. So, Henkel decided to Kickstart his own.
The game is Deathfire: Ruins of Nethermore. As Henkel describes it, Deathfire is a party-based, first-person RPG that borrows from classic pen-and-paper games, but introduces its own new ideas as well.
"I think in the past ten years or more, RPGs have dropped many of the real role-playing aspects and instead created experiences that are solely based on open world exploration and quest hunting or level grinding," Henkel told IGN. "In an attempt to reach mainstream audiences, they abandoned the actual core of role-playing."
