Alex Ross first exploded onto the comic book scene nearly 20 years ago with the mini-series Marvels, which showcased Ross' signature painted style - a sort of "Norman Rockwell meets Ayn Rand" take on superheroes. But it's been a few years since Ross has worked in the Marvel Universe. Luckily, that's going to change in early 2014.
Not only is 2014 the 20th anniversary of Marvels, it also happens to be the 75th anniversary of Marvel Comics as a whole. The publisher began life in 1939 as Timely Publications. And as part of Marvel's festivities next year, they'll be releasing a number of books with covers painted by Ross and designed to celebrate the long history of their characters.
