FOX Cancels Almost Human

J.J. Abrams has plenty on his plate, what with directing Star Wars: Episode VII, but he'll be down at least one TV show come the next TV season, as Deadline is reporting that FOX have cancelled Abrams' freshman sci-fi series, Almost Human.


It was an increasing long shot for the show to come back, after FOX gave early renewals to a ton of their lineup, including last fall's new success, Sleepy Hollow (the first show on any network to get a renewal this season), plus Bones, The Following, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mindy Project and more. On top of that, FOX have several commitments for new series already and Deadline notes that FOX's recently-produced pilots -- Gotham, The Red Band Society and Empire -- are all considered strong contenders to go to series. The Batman prequel Gotham had previously been said to have a series order, but it actually instead has a penalty commitment - meaning FOX would have to pay the studio, Warner Bros., a penalty if they pass... but it's looking like a near-lock for a series order.
