The weekly schedule for Battle of the Atom might have proven to be the undoing of this particular event. The finale issue is a bizarre hodgepodge of creators rather than the Brian Bendis/Frank Cho tag-team combo that was solicited. Bendis himself only writes one of the many epilogue sequences in this issue, with Jason Aaron instead stepping up to pen most of the script. One can only imagine the last-minute editorial changes and art delays that necessitated such a dramatic switch. Readers should probably count themselves lucky the final product is only flawed rather than downright bad.
