Stage Fright Review

If you've dreamed of seeing the cast members of Glee massacred like Friday the 13 victims, writer-director Jerome Sable has the movie for you. Stage Fright bedazzles the slasher genre with Broadway flourishes by relocating Camp Crystal Lake to Stagedoor Manor and filling the moments between brutal stabbings with song and dance.


The original tunes aren't particularly good, but it's unclear if Sable wants his self-penned showstoppers to get our toes tapping or blood curdling. Stage Fright's too thin to really matter. Like so many contemporary horror films, the intriguing genre mash-up fizzles out early, leaving Sable to hold our attention with ridiculous gore-splattering — an area where the director demonstrates perfect pitch.
