New rumors suggest that Universal/Legendary’s recently announced “Untitled 2016 Event Project” might be a Namor the Sub-Mariner film -- Universal’s sole remaining Marvel Comics property.
According to Latino-Review, sources tell them Universal Pictures is co-financing with Legendary Pictures “a film that is new and not a sequel or remake, though it may be based on underlying intellectual property,” suggesting that said property is Namor the Sub-Mariner.
The site also points out that if Universal/Legendary released their Namor movie by their set November 2, 2016 release date, they would then beat Warner Bros.’ similarly nautical Aquaman to the big screen. Aquaman is rumored to play a major role in the Justice League movie, which is expected in theaters as soon as 2017.
