From maid cafes to ladies' underwear in vending machines, Japanese culture has a reputation for a certain amount of kinkiness. It even has a Kinki University.
As reported by The Japan Times, Kinki University is a respected institution located in Osaka, although it is often the butt of jokes from visiting English speakers.
Kinki refers to the region where the school is located, but, of course, sounds exactly like the English word “kinky,” referring to unconventional sexual preferences.
