“The Enemies of Man” opened with da Vinci and Riario acknowledging that once they were ashore, their alliance would be at an end. It’s disappointing to see them part ways since they’ve been so great together these past few days but it seems like the only natural and logical progression for their stories. Riario needs to do some intense soul searching after his quest for the Book of Leaves left him empty handed. Da Vinci on the other hand has a single clue on which to build a new journey.
No time was wasted throwing da Vinci and company into the bowels of Duke Federico’s Florence. It’s great seeing da Vinci interacting with some old faces, especially his reunion with Maestro Verrocchio, who hasn’t had much to do in a very long time. The reunions are fleeting however as da Vinci is bounced around from encounter to encounter until he lands in the same dungeon as Carlo Medici.
