Quicksilver movies are like buses. You wait a life-time for one, then two come along at once. This week Evan Peters plays the speed merchant in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and in next summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be taking on the Quicksilver mantle.
So we asked X-Men screenwriter Simon Kinberg if it was strange penning one version when you know that there’s another out there…
“We created our Quicksilver in a vacuum – not knowing what their Quicksilver would be, and the same for them” he explained. “It’ll be interesting to see different interpretations.”
That said, Kinberg is pleased that the X-Men version is first out of the trap. “Luckily I guess for us we’re the first ones out so we will be the first real experience of seeing Quicksilver. I know he was in the tag in Captain America, but it’s not the same thing as really living with the character in a story.”
