Vikings Season 2 Review

Warning: Full spoilers for Vikings Season 2 follow...


All hail, King Ragnar. Now that Ragnar has handily –- awesomely -- disposed of his jealous, betraying one-time ally in war, Horik, Jarl (King?) Lothbrok is truly prepared to embrace his destiny. Ragnar was driven to explore, to move beyond what life initially had in store for him, but more than anything what he wanted was to find more land for his people; a place for them to farm, and grow, and thrive so that they wouldn’t be so dependent upon the raids for their survival. He likely would have needed to rid himself of Horik eventually, as the King was preventing any chance for a real accord with King Ecbert; but Ragnar wouldn’t have slaughtered him with such magnificent violence if Horik hadn’t betrayed him so completely.
