Marvel's current method of double-shipping most of their big event comics might be a pain on the wallet, but at least it gets more the story rolling along quicker. Or that's the idea, anyway. The problem is that events like Age of Ultron seem to adjust their pacing accordingly, slowing down significantly and offering a pacing that would be murderously slow if the series were shipping monthly. Original Sin isn't quite as bad as that so far, but issue #2's cliffhanger only brings the series to the point it should have reached after one issue.
For the most part, the same strengths and weaknesses of issue #1 remain in full force. Original Sin thrives on the strength of Jason Aaron's character work. Issue #2 offers more of those pairings that were so enjoyable but tantalizingly brief in issue #1. There's more of Doctor Strange and Punisher: Interdimensional Buddy Cops. These two are easily the highlight of the series in these early issues. There's more of Emma Frost and Black Panther, two characters who almost never appear in the same room together. And while it seems like there could be a lot of interesting AvX fallout to explore between the two, that would get in the way of Aaron's murder mystery. Overall, there's a sense that Aaron is mining all corners of the Marvel Universe and combining familiar faces in ways we haven't seen before.
