EVE Valkyrie: Oculus Rift’s First Killer App?

Warning: You may get motion sickness. No, seriously.


I panicked for a moment when I looked down and realized I could no longer move my legs and arms. I felt them moving; felt my fingers mashing buttons on the controller and my toes tapping out a mindless beat, but my mind had so fully given in to the spell of the Oculus Rift 2.0 devkit revision that it insisted that the fixed digital appendages beneath me were my own. Normally we talk of realism in games as having something to do with some feature like graphics or combat, but what I felt in EVE: Valkyrie was, for a fraction of a second, something else. And for the first time, I was ready to believe in the upstart virtual reality device.
