Starz Chief Executive Officer Chris Albrecht announced today that the channel has picked up Da Vinci's Demons for a Season 3. On top of this, John Shiban (Breaking Bad, The X-Files) will join Da Vinci’s Demons' Season 3 as executive producer and showrunner.
Which means that series creator David Goyer (Man of Steel, Dark Knight Trilogy) will be stepping aside to focus on his myriad other projects - which now include writing James Cameron's Fantastic Voyage remake. Goyer will stay on to executive produce however.
During Shiban's early career on FOX's The X-Files, he wrote or co-wrote over twenty episodes and served as executive producer by the end of the series’ nine-year run. His writing on the show also garnered him an Emmy nomination. Shiban joined AMC's Breaking Bad as a consulting producer in its second season, penning several episodes of the acclaimed series. He received a WGA Award nomination for Episodic Drama for the episode "Phoenix."
