The recent crop of PG-13 Adam Sandler movies were like five rounds in the ring with a drunken, bare-knuckle fighter who only aimed for the head. In Blended, Drew Barrymore's presence puts a boxing glove on the flailing fist.
Wedding Singer-like chemistry softens the blow of Sandler's viciously low-brow hijinks that still makes contact enough times to knock a few IQ points out of the ol' noggin. Perhaps 50 First Dates was this generation's When Harry Met Sally? Blended's insidious mix of “comedy,” “romance” and “family drama” will provoke even the most forgiving Sandler fans to consider the possibility.
