Harmonix has announced a new Amplitude game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, which the Rock Band developer aims to bring to life via Kickstarter crowdfunding.
The developer is asking for $775,000 to create a successor to its classic PlayStation 2 music game, which is scheduled for launch in June 2015. The team, which includes many original Amplitude developers at Harmonix, will use the studio’s proprietary engine and the knowledge learned from Rock Band’s beat-matching to create an “HD reinvisioning” of the musical masterpiece.
“We're aiming to deliver an updated soundtrack, incredible visuals, and fine-tuned controls,” the developer explains on its Kickstarter page. Additionally, Amplitude will run in 60 frames per-second “to make all musical timing feel snappy.”
