ABC announced their 2014-2015 schedule plans, confirming the reports that the new Marvel's Agent Carter series will debut midseason, airing as a bridge in-between fall and spring runs of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD. In addition, SHIELD itself (and Agent Carter) will air an hour later now, moving to Tuesdays at 9pm.
This plan makes a lot of sense, in that it essentially makes the Tuesday, 9pm timeslot a destination for new Marvel programming for the majority of the time from September until May. In addition, by programming SHIELD in two different blocks, it will mean far, far less of the two weeks of new episodes, three weeks of repeats type of programming that frustrated many viewers this year - and, arguably, could let the SHIELD producers format the fall and spring runs of their 22-episode season as though they were two mini-seasons (it's not clear if they'll be split exactly into 11 and 11 episodes, but it will certainly be something similar). It also confirms Agent Carter will be a shorter run of 13 episodes or less, which many feel makes for better, tighter storytelling in general these days.
