Wow on poor Lucia’s story. Ultimately, no, she wasn’t cut out to be a spy, as she was letting her emotions overtake her mission. But who can blame this young woman for wanting revenge against a man who had taken so much from her personally? Elizabeth allowing Larrick to kill her was quite the statement on just how much Elizabeth has compartmentalized things – even though the toll of that is beginning to catch up to her, as she most certainly felt Lucia’s death deeply, even as she tried to hold it in.
What happened to Lucia, coupled with the news about a Russian sub sinking due to what was, presumably, purposely bad plans the Jennings had stolen from the Americans, was enough to send Philip and Elizabeth on the war path. Philip will always seek the less violent solution, so it meant something when he was calling for Larrick’s death.
