2014 is the 75th anniversary of Batman's first appearance in Detective Comics #27. We've already seen DC celebrate that milestone in various ways, including the oversized Detective Comics Vol. 2 #27 in January. But it seems the party isn't truly getting stated until July.
DC have declared Wednesday, July 23 to be "Batman Day." Fans who show up at their local comic shops will be treated to a special edition of Detective Comics #27, designed by artist Chip Kidd and featuring Brad Meltzer and Bryan Hitch's modernized take on the original Batman story,. "The Case of the Chemical Syndicate." We assume this book won't include the rest of the stories included in the original issue, as that would make for a pretty expensive freebie.
