5 Things to Look For in Salem

Step into the past – into 1692 to be exact, in Salem Village, Massachusetts, where the infamous witch trials were taking place. Over 200 hundred citizens were accused of being involved with witchcraft, and about ten percent of the accused were executed. We know some history about the earthshaking event, but we don't know it all. What if it went beyond what was written in black and white and stretched into the actual supernatural realm? That's the premise for WGN America's Salem – the cable channel's first original, scripted series, which debuts this Sunday.


The series, created and written by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, focuses on the darker, murkier, and often more intense truth behind the panic and mania. What if witches were real, and what if they were walking among the residents of Salem and acting as puppeteers? What if the edges of reality were blurred and the things that live just beyond the edge of belief were true and terrifying? Those are the type of questions Salem takes on, and it does so with a gripping story, offbeat characters, immersive sets, and memorable costumes.
