The DC Universe Will Flash Forward in September

It's become customary for DC to celebrate the anniversary of the New 52 every September with a month-long marketing push. In 2012, Zero Month saw every series deliver a flashback tale or origin story set in the early days of the New 52. In 2013, it was Villains Month, where DC's numerous villains took the spotlight as Forever Evil kicked off. That was also the month DC introduced their new 3D motion covers, which inspired a collector frenzy not seen since the early '90s.


What is the Future of the New 52?


This year's September celebration will take a page from both of these past events. This time, all of DC's New 52 books will flash forward five years rather than back. These issues are designed to tie into the weekly comic The New 52: Future's End, which explores the near future of the DCU and features characters like Batman Beyond, Firestorm, Frankenstein, and the Brother Eye satellite. Presumably, each tie-in issue will showcase the fate of its respective hero five years into the future. We also assume every book will return to the present-day in October, though it might be interesting if some don't.
