If you’re a fan of Firaxis’ Sid Meier’s Civilization series, you might’ve heard the name Soren Johnson. He was the lead designer of what’s generally thought to be the best of the five celebrated turn-based strategy games, Civilization IV, and later worked on Spore at Maxis (an experience he recently analyzed on his blog). Today he announces his new studio, Mohawk Games, and its first game, codenamed Mars. It takes place on Mars (spoiler?), and it’s an economic real-time strategy game for PC that Johnson says is too risky for a big developer like Firaxis to take a chance on.
