While this comic is billed as a new number one, it's really the third issue in a series, and it's worth picking up the superb first two issues before jumping into this one. You certainly can start here, and there's plenty of great stuff in this issue to enjoy, but the weight of some of the moments really depend on you having read the first Sledgehammer 44 comics. If you have read those, you get the same great storytelling, big action and World War II themed mysteries. This is a big, heartfelt comic book that fans of Hellboy and new comers to the world will enjoy.
