I've been a sucker for Trophies ever since they were introduced on PlayStation 3 in 2008. The whole Trophy system -- like the Xbox Achievements that inspired it -- is a fun metagame, a diversion that gives you a reason to play games beyond (!) just beating them. Sure, I've gone through more trouble than I'd like to admit to get some of these digital goodies, but I can't deny that they've added a great deal to my collective gaming experience over the last nearly six years.
Trophies never did migrate to PSP, but they did go to PlayStation Vita, and now, they can be found on PlayStation 4. And on PS4, like elsewhere, I've always been fascinated by the Trophies that are hardest to acquire. I have 43 Platinum Trophies -- a pretty good count -- and some 5,300 overall, but there are some people out there that have a hundred or more Platinums and many times the Trophy count I do. And many of those people have some of the rarest Trophies imaginable.
