Word has come today that longtime writing-producing partners Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are splitting up to pursue separate feature film careers. And for Orci, that means gunning for the center seat on Star Trek 3 as director.
Variety has the news on the break-up, which is said to be amicable and mainly to do with the fact that the pair are both looking to direct their own films now. The Orci-Kurtzman team has been nothing if not successful with their work on the Transformers and Star Trek films as well as many TV projects, including Fringe, Alias, and Sleepy Hollow. They also worked on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 script together.
