Note: Full spoilers follow for both this episode and for the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
There was an earlier episode of Agents of SHIELD this season touted as tying into Thor: The Dark World that was anything but, understandably frustrating people thanks to how it was promoted as the team showing up in London in the aftermath of that film ended up having nothing to do with the storyline that followed. But anyone who’s seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier knew that this show had to be affected by it, in pretty massive ways.
And here we are with “Turn, Turn, Turn”, which essentially takes place during the second half of The Winter Soldier and immediately delivers on the “everything changes” promise. Marvel is being pretty audacious here - I actually am somewhat surprised they decided to not wait until closer to the season finale to deal with Cap’s events, as you had to have seen a movie that opened just four days earlier before watching this episode or you’re basically spoiling yourself on certain major aspects (though not all) of The Winter Soldier.
