In 2012, Danny Trejo headlined a flick aptly titled Bad Ass, in which the Machete star played a full-bearded Vietnam veteran, Frank Vega, who becomes a local hero after saving a man from attackers on a city bus.
That part is loosely based on a true story, but it's what happens after the bus incident that turns the one-time defender into a renegade vigilante in director Craig Moss's movie. Armed with only a baseball bat and a fanny pack, the fictive Frank decides to take action when his best friend is murdered and the cops show little interest in solving the crime. What ensues is a 90-minute gumshoe chase that sees Trejo cracking skulls, taking names and being an all-around badass.
