SHIELD Producers on Fan Criticism

Marve’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuted with a ton of hype and excitement, but went on to also receive plenty of criticism in its early weeks. If you read my weekly reviews of the series, you know I feel some of those criticisms are way overblown, but do think the show has had a tough time getting its sea legs and still isn’t where it could be — though the last episode that aired was one of the more encouraging ones.


While S.H.I.E.L.D. always meant to focus on regular people in a world with superheroes, the show's creators had seemed oddly reluctant to incorporate almost any elements of the Marvel universe -- even more obscure characters and aspects -- for the team to encounter, but that looks to be changing soon in notable ways. Upcoming episodes will include the introduction of Deathlok, a guest appearance by Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif (in an episode that will also include Thor villain Lorelei), and Bill Paxton in a new recurring role as the Marvel-created S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, John Garrett.
