James Avery, most famous for playing Will Smith's Uncle Phil on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, passed away December 31, 2013, at the age of 68. According to his manager, the cause of death was complication from an open-heart surgery performed a few weeks earlier, on November 11.
Co-star Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Philip Banks' son Carlton Banks, tweeted the news of Avery's passing today.
