Charizard will return as the 28th playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS this year, this time without the Pokemon Trainer, alongside another Pokemon, the newcomer and 29th fighter Greninja.
Both Pokemon have Mega Evolutions, which alter their form.
These fighters join Yoshi, Sheik, and Zero Suit Samus as the central characters in today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, in which director Masahiro Sakurai announced a summer 2014 release date for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and a winter launch on Wii U.
