Debuting Sunday night, AMC's new drama Turn, based on Alexander Rose's book Washington's Spies, dramatizes the true story of the Culper Ring, America's first spy ring. Nikita showrunner Craig Silverstein, who knows a little something about spy stories, fills the same role here, executive producing alongside Barry Josephson (Bones).
The story begins in the summer of '78 - 1778 that is. The American revolution is seemingly designated to fail and those living on Long Island, New York are being asked to quarter British officers. They cook their food, clean their clothes, and put up with their sometimes boorish behavior. They may be winning the war, but their overbearing presence is causing them to lose the hearts and minds of many who were Loyalists when the rebellion started.
