Back in July 2013, I hoped Nintendo would consider sharing Tomodachi Collection with the rest of the world. This unique Sims-meets-Miis mash up offers a playful take on real world relationships. So imagine my surprise when it actually happened: This past January, President Satoru Iwata revealed that Nintendo was adapting it for the West. “Even the most ‘Japanese’ games can translate abroad without losing their identity,” Iwata told The Wall Street Journal, as he pointed to Animal Crossing, a game that went on to sell over 7 million copies.
