The Elder Scrolls Online Review in Progress Archive

Editor's Note: Reviewing an MMORPG is a big job that took two weeks to complete. April 15: The End Game, Veteran Levels, and Longevity


A few days ago I finally beat the main story of Elder Scrolls Online, and I say with little hesitation that the buildup to the final boss (and the fight itself) was more enjoyable than its counterparts in Skyrim and Oblivion. (I stop short of comparing it to my beloved Morrowind.) As in Skyrim, a host of NPC companions aids you through the thick of it, but here the final moments hinge on just you and your sword against the potentiality of world annihilation. I've heard guild members vent their frustration at not being able to finish it, and I've heard long discussions regarding what was the "right choice" in the scenes leading up to the battle. Provided the final encounter doesn't bug out on you, it's an ending worthy of any of the single-player games.
