Yeesh, Charlotte’s story sure was a dark one, huh? Rivaling The Walking Dead for “most messed up depiction of a little girl” this year (though I actually saw these episodes first, since the CW sent them out in January), the follow-up to Charlotte’s murder of Wells was to have no happy ending, to say the least. The fact that the quest to save this girl ended the way it did certainly reinforced that The 100 messing around or holding back, as Charlotte chose to quickly kill herself rather than face whatever sadistic end Murphy had in store for her.
I liked how messy this whole scenario was. Clarke was quick to race Charlotte to safety rather than leave her to mob justice, sure. But when she also shoved away Charlotte's attempt to hold her hand, it was an appropriate response, given Charlotte had, you know, murdered her friend.
