Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's Devices and Services business is officially complete. Originally announced last year in September, the $7.1 billion deal gives Microsoft ownership of Nokia's smartphone products—including the Lumia line, the entry-level Asha devices, and the Android-powered Nokia X phones—as well as access to the Finnish company's portfolio of patents through a licensing agreement.
"Today we welcome the Nokia Devices and Services business to our family. The mobile capabilities and assets they bring will advance our transformation," said newly appointed Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in a press release. "Together with our partners, we remain focused on delivering innovation more rapidly in our mobile-first, cloud-first world."
