First published in 2004, John Ajvide Lindqvist’s Let the Right One In has built up something of a cult following in the intervening years, the bloody tale of the friendship that forms between a lonely and bullied boy and an ancient vampire girl seemingly having universal appeal. It has also inspired two films – a brilliant Swedish adaptation in 2008 and an excellent American cover in 2010.
Proving that you can’t keep a good story down, Lindqvist’s book has now been turned into a stage play which has had successful runs at Scotland’s National Theatre and London’s Royal Court before recently opening at the London Apollo.
