Sons of Anarchy: “Wolfsangel” Review

Note: Full spoilers for Sons of Anarchy follow.


So much for the Jax and Toric faceoff.


“Wolfsangel” had a good sized body count, especially considering it was so early in the season, but of course there was a twist! As it turned out, the people we saw in the coffins in the promo from last week did not turn out to be the people we expected. When we last saw Tig, he appeared to be in mortal danger after Jax finally gave him up to August Marks. I would imagine that our surprise at his survival was nothing compared to what Jax was thinking when Tig showed up at his door the next morning.


I enjoy watching Kim Coates and the work he does on the show as the unstable Tig, but it felt appropriate that he was going to die as a consequence for his rash violence that had brought so much trouble to the club. That Tig survived a death sentence so soon after Clay’s most recent escape from being killed seemed a little cheap. When Jax let Clay live back in the Season 4 finale, it felt like a bold move to both elude audience expectations and shake up the power structure of SAMCRO. But there should be a limit to how often characters like Clay and Tig can wriggle out of these situations.
