There's no doubt that Wolverine and the X-Men deserved to continue beyond Jason Aaron's run. Between Quentin Quire's rise to respectability, Wolverine drifting away from his own school, and the lingering issue of whether Genesis will fulfill his destiny and become Apocalypse, there's plenty more story material worth exploring. But so far, this second volume doesn't really capture the appeal of the first. The humor is greatly diminished, and the characterization is annoyingly uneven. This Jean Grey School just doesn't feel enough like the one we've come to love.
