You know that Hollywood trope where the geeky, socially awkward scientist is trying to explain a complicated problem, only to have a brawny, anti-intellectual military man tell them to, "Speak English, Mr. Scientist!" or something similar? New Avengers could probably use one of those military men at this point. Issue #15 finally begins making some forward progress after the previous two devoted themselves to chronicling the doomed exploits of other Earths. But that progress only comes after a painfully drawn out sequence where Beast and Mister Fantastic compete to see who can waste more oxygen in informing the rest of the Illuminati, "We've figured out how to use our machine to look into the past." Frodo could walk to Mordor and back in the time it takes to get that message across.
