Sex Criminals #5 Review

Sex Criminals #5 is part-explanatory issue, part-filler. It is indeed a strange balance to strike, but creators Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky manage to strike it. While not much forward progress is made, we are given some glimpses at what led to the foiling of the world's most orgasmic bank robbery by the Sex Police (that's a thing) all while learning some lesser-known uses for vibrating sex toys.

Though we pick up where we left off -- with Jon and Suzie being carted off the Sex Police -- we're almost immediately whisked away to the planning stages of their ill-fated operation, during which a gun from the 'Bondage, James Bondage' bondage kit makes it first appearance. Then, we see that Jon and Suzie's plan had been doomed before it had even taken off, thanks to the collusion of the Kegel-faced Sex Police Lady and Suzie's suspicious roommate. It's all fascinating information (as is the revelation that Jon craps in his boss' plotted plants to blow off steam), but does little to propel the plot forth, though the book's signature humor and brisk pacing are enough to keep you entertained.
