Part gritty cop drama, part superhero comic, the graphic novel Powers seemed destined for a live-action adaptation since issues first hit stands. n fact has been in development to become a film or TV series since the rights were purchases in 2002. Numerous false starts and an entire scrapped pilot made for the network FX, however, had dimmed hopes. Now, finally, it looks to be that the live-action Powers will finally hit the streets.
According to Deadline, Powers is being developed by Sony Pictures TV as an exclusive series for the emerging PlayStation Network video service. The series will take the form of hour-long live-action stories, with around 10 episodes in the first production. This appears to be a new version of the Powers storyline and will not use the script or elements of the scrapped 2011 FX Powers pilot.
