Under the Dome: Season 1 Finale Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the Under the Dome Season 1 finale follow...


So. That was Under the Dome Season 1, folks. Ending things with a slight whimper of a cliffhanger, which essentially served to solve the big problem that was only just introduced (the dome in the dark) and saw Barbie wind up right back where he was at the top of the episode. Oh, and in between, Big Jim somehow convinced the Chester's Millians to build him a hangin' gallows in the middle of town.


I liked Jim's decent into darkness last week, and his killing of Dodee seemed to be the final catalyst needed to send him into full blown tyranny-mode. But there was no way he was dying tonight. Which means that there was no way Barbie was going to be cleared or exonerated tonight. Because the only way Big Jim lasts until next summer is as the villain. And he can't be that if the citizens know the truth about his crimes. Meaning that even when Barbie was being led out to be hanged at the end, the writers still couldn't afford him the opportunity to speak up for himself.
