Hey, what do you know? Under the Dome wasn't a total mess this week. In fact - despite still containing uninspired dialogue and a few characters who just wander around, shuffling into position where and when the show needs them - "Exigent Circumstances" kind of cooked. Because it was all about Big Jim deciding, when it came right down to it, that he didn't want the dome to come down. This was sort of a big deal, and it led him to his first straight-up murder of an innocent - Dodee.
Which is fine with me, because she bugged as a character. Plus, with a "Barbie," "Angie," and a "Norrie" still out there, I wasn't going to be able to take the name "Dodee" much longer. Honestly though, I think I started resenting her back when she just started becoming sort of mean and spiteful toward the teens because of the way they communicated with the dome. Not that the teens are anyone to actively root for, but her weird mistrusting of them didn't seem grounded in anything. Still, her death felt meaningful. Not only did the whole scene wind up giving Big Jim the sparse details about the black egg, but Dodee got to go out with some tears and a cold line: "They're going to smile when you die."
