Now available to watch online, ABC’s new comedy The Goldbergs is a Wonder Years-type look back at life in the 1980s. Creator Adam F. Goldberg (Breaking In) directly based all of the characters -- except for an invented sister -- on his family members, starting with young Adam himself (Sean Giambrone), who carries his video camera everywhere he goes, documenting everything happening around him.
The Goldbergs include Adam’s parents Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) and Murray (Jeff Garlin), his siblings Barry (Barry Goldberg) and Erica (Hayley Orrantia) and his grandfather Alberta, AKA Pops (George Segal). We’re introduced to nearly every one of them screaming and yelling, which sort of sets the stage for the series. Yes, this is intentional, but it’s not exactly inviting.
