Utilizing a stripped-down approach similar to the first film in the series, Pitch Black, rather than its bloated sequel The Chronicles of Riddick, the series' third entry, simply titled Riddick, is a decent enough time-passer for fans of the series even if it never quite brings anything new to the table.
Left for dead by the treacherous Necromongers (sorry, folks, Karl Urban is only in one scene here) on the least hospitable world in the cosmos, the deadly fugitive Riddick (once again played by Vin Diesel) fights to survive against the wide variety of deadly beasts roaming this arid dunghole of a planet. His only way off this rock is to actually call in the very people he would otherwise hope to avoid: bounty hunters.
