Reality Check is a story about a guy named Willard who publishes the first issue of a Batman-esque comic book, only to realize that his creation has now come to life. This might sound like a satirical comedy, but the story is played straight. Willard even has a serious, stereotypical comic book origin with the traumatic death of a loved one. For anyone trying to break into comics, Willard’s story will undoubtedly resonate, but too much time is spent hearing about the inner workings of the industry and not getting to know Willard himself.
