Skater Is the First Skateboarding Game to Feature Real-Life Skate Spots

Sydney, Australia-based Frosch Media has announced Skater, a realistic skateboarding game headed to iOS later this month.


Skater, which was formerly revealed as Touch Skate in early 2013, differs from other skateboarding video games by featuring real-life locations. Frosch states the first release will focus on iconic US parks like Stoner Park, Woodward Plaza and The Berrics, plus street spots like Carlsbad Gap and Hollywood High.


“As ex-competitive skaters and developers, we wanted to play a better skate game on the current generation of devices,” said director Dain Hedgpeth. “We surveyed tons of skaters, scoured forums from around the world, and found they wanted a skateboarding experience that offered organic gameplay, social engagement and a way to expose and share the best things to do in levels – ones that were based on real world skate parks. So I flew to California to meet with some of the world’s top skaters and together we travelled to some of the most renowned skate parks in the US.”
