Metal Gear Remake Called Off

A fan-made remake of the original Metal Gear has been called off by its developer, citing an inability to reach an agreement with Konami.


Speaking to fan website Metal Gear Informer, Ian Ratcliffe of the project's development team The Outer Heaven said, "Unfortunately we can no longer go ahead with the project, it seems like the guys over at Konami couldn't agree on a decision so had no choice but to shut us down."


According to a trailer released in May, Solid Snake's original voice actor David Hayter had been on board, as well as developers who had previously worked on series such as Infamous and Gears of War.


Konami had initially given their blessing for The Outer Heaven to proceed with the remake project, as long as they did not make a profit from the project or take donations; Konami even said, at the time, that they might "consider further steps" if the remake gained enough public interest.
