Halo 5: Guardians Beta Has 4 Maps, Focusing on Small-Scale Combat

The Halo 5: Guardians Beta, which begins December 29, 2014, is "getting back to the legacy" of Halo gameplay, and it will do this across four maps.

To that end, 343 Industry's Josh Holmes said, "The focus of the beta is going to be 4v4 arena gameplay." This means identical loadouts for both teams at the start of each match, like Halo: Combat Evolved, and smaller-scale battlegrounds. Players will also be able to tweak seven armor sets to explore Halo 5's new character customization options.

Additionally, playing the Halo 5: Guardians beta in The Master Chief Collection will earn you unspecified bonus content when Halo 5 launches.

Earlier today, 343 also revealed The Halo Channel, a hub for behind-the-scenes videos and gameplay previews.
