Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Tournament Had Over 400k Viewers

eSports is proving to continue its rise in popularity, with ESL One's recent Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament drawing in 409,368 viewers in-game and on Twitch.


The peak concurrent number of Twitch viewers was 343,638, seeing the previous record for viewership of a CS:GO event beaten by over 153%.


"We had over ten million sessions and were just shy of three million unique viewers for ESL One Cologne 2014," said Ulrich Schulze, managing director of pro gaming at ESL. "It’s absolutely amazing to see and we’re all very excited to get back to work and see where we can take Counter-Strike: Global Offensive next."


The tournament was held at this year's Gamescom from August 14 to 17, with top Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams competing for a $250,000 USD prize pool. Team Ninjas in Pyjamas took out this year's prize.
