Guillermo del Toro took the stage once again in Hall H today at San Diego Comic-Con, this time as part of the Legendary panel to show off footage from his upcoming “gothic romance” Crimson Peak.
This was chance at a first-look at the haunted house film (oh yeah, it’s that too), and it did not disappoint. GDT explained that he has long wanted to make a film that blended these “two parts of his personality” -- the more “beautiful and creepy stuff” from his Spanish language films like Pan’s Labyrinth and The Devil’s Backbone with his more Hollywood films like Pacific Rim and Hellboy. And when Universal acquired the project, they told him it’s “R-rated and beautiful but also incredibly violent.” “So I said O.K.!” he laughed.
